obligatory scrooge post

what would christmas be without one of these?

So we decided to do Kris Kringle at work and we all picked names out of a hat. However, we all did it at different times because we weren't all there at the same time and there was one name left over. First Mistake.

Then, no one could decide when we were actually doing the exchange of the gifts. Finally it was a agreed that we would do it on a Monday night but no one was really told and thus did not show up. Second Mistake.

I took my gift in on the following Tuesday and gave it to my KK person (my manager of all people!) and I did not receive one back. I asked 'where are all the gifts?' and no one could give me a straight answer. Third Mistake.

I was  very upset that this did not work out and despite the tantrum that I threw at work I do not feel any better.
Christmas is a two way street people!

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas II

It was the first sign of snowfall today!
Little flutters of snowflakes floated from the sky when I was having breakfast. I choked on my bread with excitement but it was well worth it.

Continuing the feeling of 'f#&k it I'm in New York' me and the roomies headed out to Henri Bendell, Bergdorf Goodman, the new Victoria's Secret, Nine West and best of all Barneys.

Barneys has the snootiest sales people. Barneys has the most expensive clothes. Barneys has the biggest jewels. Barneys has the best lighting in the biggest change rooms.
Barneys is cool.

In the change rooms at Barneys while trying on two Prada dresses for a 'special occasion'.

We also ducked into the Chanel Boutique where I was told that the wallet that I wanted was totally, like, FOUR seasons old. All I can say is that although I am slightly embarrassed to not realise I am asking for old goods, I WANT IT NOW!!!!

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas...

You know, to be honest, this time New York has been quite different for me. It's been all 'how do I move from one house to another?' or 'HOLLY MACKERALS rent time again??!' or 'I know what I want to eat but how do I make it taste good?' I much rathered it when the biggest problem was which Victoria's Secret we would visit on a certain day until it was discovered there was enough time to go to both.

But this has made everything better.

I've discovered you cannot be here and just live normally. I mean LOOK at the freaking tree at Rockefeller!!!
We pushed through the crowds (some people had prams which reassured me of my sanity) and did the only thing a New Yorker wouldn't do. God knows why considering the Jonas Brothers, Miley Cyrus, Harry Connick Jr and Beyonce were all hanging around.

Then we ran around and took snaps of the city preparing for Christmas starting with various shop windows. This one in particular at Bergdorf Goodman had me creaming my jeans. I think i'll buy this dress when it goes on sale. I hope they have my size.

Finally we ended up at the Plaza Hotel and couldn't resist a cheezy photo.

The Good American

Due to track works last night, the trains were running all over the place and it just so happened to not go to the lower east side but all the way to Brooklyn! So like any panicked passenger, I jumped up bundled all my winter gear and tried to run off the train. In the process I lost my glove and got jammed  in the train doors.

Fortunately there was the best samaritan in my carriage as he rushed to give me back my glove AND used his own body to ram open the doors of the train as I was sort of in a half in half out situation. I was like 'Woah, that's dedication for someone you don't even know'.

I suppose now I have to pay it forward so I'm making my roommate waffles. Hardly life threatening I know, but who doesn't like waffles??!

Off The Topic:
Lion King's 'Circle of Life' is a very bad hangover song.

Wall Street Crash

This is a fashionably late post about Halloween from the land of Halloween. We ventured into the village for a 1920's/Wall Street Crash/Flappers party.
This is all i have to say.

N.B single mattress found on village street near piles of garbage is
available for all future house guests. As you can see, it is quite durable.

Celebrity Sightings

What would New York City be without the celebs?

Sighted:
Anna Wintour - I believe she was going into Vera Wang which is one floor above my internship
Colin Farell - (dont know how to spell his name and he is too greasy a man for me to care) Spotted at his premier for Pride and Glory on the upper west side.
Law and Order CI crew - filming on Lexington. We saw Chris Noth's chair. I touched it and got giddy.
Pink - heard and seen coming out of the subway at on 5th Avenue. She was performing live for The Early Show on CBS outside the Apple store. She's quite good live even with her platinum blonde hair.
The host from The Early Show - well, obviously.

Missed:
The Olsen Twins - They were signing their book 'Influence' at a barnes and noble that was literally within reach. however, i was on lunch break and couldnt afford to wait in line for 50 hours, even for the Olsen Twins.
Hanson - looked in the daily paper and saw they were playing that night! apparently they walked through times square as well. Again, i was indoors and my window faces the opposite way of times square.
Coldplay - Wouldve gone to their concert on a whim, but they were in New Jersey.

More to come I'm sure!

LIVE FROM NEW YORK

Don't be fooled, this picture does not do top of the rock, nay, this CITY any justice!

Finally blogging again but there's too much to say.

Although I will say this: there is too much double denim around here. Everyday I see at least 2 to 3 people doing this combo. Then there are the people who do the double denim and there's a jumper around the waist.

I think that's been the biggest news so far.
